HCS Indian Immersion After School Class

Dates- December 11th- March 11th (No class 12/25, 1/1, 2/19)
Time- 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Ages- Kindergarten+

Our SDA Bollywood class will focus on

  • learning basic stance, postures and spatial positioning

  • concentration and working as part of a team

  • musical cues/beats and timing their moves with respect to the beat

  • developing hand - leg coordination and awareness of their movements and transitions between moves. 

  • learning one 1- 1.5 minute choreography

  • being confident and expressing themselves on stage thorugh music and dance

Indian History through Art & Dance- Dance & Cultural Exploration

Our Shehnaaz Dance Academy (SDA) - Buzy Bugs program promises an exploration into Indian History through ancient Indian art forms and heritage crafting techniques. Our Spring 2023 semester program promises to take our students Indian History with an emphasis on Classical dance and Traditional art/crafting techniques.

SDA will focus on training our students in postures, technique and movements of the classical forms. Emphasis will be given to bettering hand movements and facial expressions to inculcate storytelling into their dance. Instructors will work towards building student concentration and focus, encouraging them to work independently to learn choreography as well as part of a team for their final performance. Students will be given an opportunity to perform at our SDA Spring Showcase 2024.

Indian culture is seeped in its traditions and deep-rooted history and Indian art forms are a reflection of that culture. The Indian styles of arts have unique origins and history behind them which make them even more interesting. Our program will introduce kids to these art forms and the history behind them. Kids will craft and take home a new art form every week. This session is all about learning folk and tribal arts of India that are simple, ethnic, colorful and vibrant through hands-on activities and crafts.
